Disabilities

Physical, Mobility, and Chronic Illnesses

This category encompasses many different physical disabilities and there are a tremendous range and variability in these disabilities from one person to another. However, all chronic health disabilities are medical conditions that significantly limit a student's ability to function in an educational environment. Some people falling under this category may require a wheelchair, whereas others are able to move freely but have impaired hand or motor functions which make writing difficult. Medical conditions that fall under this category of disability may include, but are not limited to:

  • Chronic pain
  • Chronic fatigue (CF)
  • Arthritis
  • Cancer
  • Diabetes
  • Kidney disease
  • Hepatitis
  • Allergies
  • Chemical sensitivities
  • Asthma
  • Cardiovascular problems
  • HIV/AIDS
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Lupus (SLE)

Documentation Requirements

All students seeking to register with CAL must submit the Application for Services Form as well as supporting documentation. Please refer to the Disability Documentation Page for information on documentation required.
