Aboriginal Student Entrance Award

Amount Awarded: $2,500


The SFU Aboriginal Student Entrance Award is offered to Canadian Aboriginal students entering Simon Fraser University from a Canadian secondary school or BC college/university program. The applicant will have demonstrated involvement within the Aboriginal community through service and/or cultural contribution. To be eligible, regular secondary school applicants must have grades in the 80% range for the Faculty they have applied to (not rounded up), IB diploma applicants must have the IB diploma score required for admission, and college/university applicants must have a transfer GPA of 2.5 (not rounded up).

Entrance Award and Bursary Applicants coming from a BC/Yukon regular secondary school must self-report their grades by the deadline date.

Application Instructions:

The application must be submitted online and the supporting documentation must be emailed by the deadline date at 11:59pm PST.

Supporting Documentation:

  • Community Reference Form completed and emailed by a community official who can speak to your involvement
  • Documentation of your Aboriginal heritage: photocopy or scan of your Status or Métis card (front & back)
