DELF-DALF Exams

SFU offers you the opportunity to evaluate and certify your level of French with the DELF and DALF exams.

The DELF (Diplôme d'études en langue française - beginner and intermediate level) and the DALF (Diplôme approfondi de langue française - advanced level) are diplomas that are internationally recognized and valid for life. The exams are used to assess and certify the French language proficiency of candidates whose first language is not French.

In British Columbia, the DELF and DALF exams are used as the French language requirement for admission to the French modules in the teacher education programs at SFU (Professional Development Program - French Module and Professional Linking Program - French Module) and at UBC (Teacher Education Program). The DELF and DALF may be required by school districts.

The diplomas are awarded by the French Ministry for National Education.  The exams are developed by France Éducation international (formerly CIEP) in France and reflect the six levels of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFRL). You can take the exams in over 170 countries around the world.

Consult the DELF-DALF in Canada website for more information.
