Volcanostratigraphy of the Harrison Lake area, Sts'ailes Territory: Geochemistry and Indigenous Science

The geology of the Harrison Lake area is dominated by Mesozoic volcanic, volcaniclastic, and clastic lithologies which can contain fossiliferous and toolstone-grade formations. By recontextualizing this area that has not been mapped with a modern understanding of geology, we can use a multidisciplinary approach that puts indigenous knowledge at the forefront of our understanding of the natural sciences. This project will consist of a field program that explores the lithology, structure, and geochemistry of Echo Island, Long Island, and the West Shore of Harrison Lake, as well as ongoing community consultation and opportunities for public education for residents of the area.
