M.Sc. Candidate
Quaternary Geoscience Research Group

Areas of interest

Ashlyn's research seeks to deepen our understanding of the geological history in the Quesnel, BC area. By evaluating the geotechnical characteristics of Tertiary and Quaternary deposits and mapping their 3D distributions, this research aims to gain insights into the factors influencing slope stability. The research methods employed will include an analysis of recently acquired data sources (drill hole data/records, laboratory testing results, aerial imagery and lidar imagery) alongside field investigations and geochronological techniques. A refined understanding of the Quesnel geology and relevant engineering properties can be utilized to inform decision-making in the areas of land development, resource management, and urban planning within the Cariboo Region. Furthermore, it can contribute to the enhancement of geohazard risk management tools and processes deployed at regional/provincial scales.
