When did you meet Thelma? 1985
In what capacity did you know Thelma? I know Thelma through the Masters of Pest Management program.
Where are you now? I am a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biological Sciences, SFU.  I teach the summer field courses for the MPM.
Wishes: Happy 100th Birthday Thelma!!!!
Although you retired before I came to SFU, I feel you have had a great influence on my life. At the Finlayson Biodiversity Symposium in February, Heather Proctor talked about her students as her academic children. You are my academic grandmother. Your graduate student Dave Gillespie was my TA for Insect Biology. Dave told me about a position that became my first biology related job. That position set me off on my career as an entomologist and a teacher. Since 1988, I have been teaching the MPM field courses. Your never flagging support for the MPM program has resulted in financial support for many MPM students, a Research Chair in Biological Control being established, and most importantly MPM graduates continue to become leaders in pest management and environmental sustainability. I am grateful for your passion for the MPM and honoured that you support of my role in the program. I remember when you introduced me to Chancellor Milton Wong at your birthday party. That day I had been out in the field teaching BISC603. I didn?t think I would back at SFU for your party, so I did not have a change of clothes. My field clothes were far from clean (I had fallen in a cranberry bog ditch), but everyone said I had to come, and you wouldn't care about what I was wearing. You didn't - mud and all, you introduced me to Chancellor Wong. I will never forget that day and your support.
