In this project, building construction period is determined as the most important aspect that may do harm on human. However, the data building construction period is from 2006 Canada Census Data. There is no other file that I can access to get this information. This information are more likely to be in engineer area; Census Data are not design to record this kind of data, so how good this quality is remains consideration. Since it is a 2006 census data, it is already 7 years from now and the building code for seismic structure design is very new, it is highly possible that even some of the buildings constructed in 2006 is very dangerous; but in this project they are considered to be relatively safe.
In my opinion, population density number better describe the population status in certain area because the purpose it to show how crowded of certain area. However, the area of each DA cannot be found, so population number data is used as a second choice.
The weights are determined by pairwise comparison, it is mainly assigned by personal idea and assumption. This also goes the same with dividing age group and building construction period group. Although some research has been done on all aspects, the final decision relies largely on personal opinion. These weight can significantly influence the result.
The most challenge part of this project is the data collection. Especially the building construction period data, it is very hard to find the ideal data for this subject.
