Clinton Innes, MSc (’14)
Rigorous academics paired with an engaged graduate community gave Innes a grad school experience for the books.
Clinton Innes completed his MSc in Applied and Computational Mathematics at SFU. He focused his research on modelling behavioural dynamics. “My degree gave me a good mix of programming and math skills. I got a solid math background and problem-solving skills, and it was a fun graduate school experience,” says Innes.
The most memorable thing for Innes was the strong sense of community in the graduate program. From late night study sessions to poker games and BBQs, the graduate community really made SFU stand out. “The faculty was very supportive and always pushing you to do better. Both my supervisors, Ralf Wittenberg and Razvan Fetecau, went above and beyond to provide the support I needed in my course work and my research.” For Innes, the combination of rigorous academics and a fun, social, and supportive environment made SFU a great place to study.
Innes currently works as a Senior Data Analyst in Toronto. He provides data science support for an audit department at Manulife Financial, the largest insurance company in Canada.
