Maria Trinh

Young scientist smoothes the way for women in science

Biomedical engineering undergraduate Maria Trinh was awarded the 2001 B.C. Premier's Award for Young Women in Science for her outstanding academic performance and her commitment to advancing women in science. Alarmed by the dropout rate of women in engineering courses, Trinh founded the SFU Women in Engineering group in 2000 to help build camaraderie and confidence among her female peers.
