1. Provide a personal statement of up to 500 words. Explain why you are interested in the Curaçao Environmental Archaeology Field School. What do you hope to learn, and what skills do you seek to develop? How will the field school contribute to your academic and professional development? Please discuss any other considerations that may be helpful in evaluating your application.

2. Describe any past archaeological course work, practical experience or employment that applies to your suitability for this field school.

3. Describe any previous experience with international travel and/or interaction with other (non-Canadian) communities.

4. Describe your ability to work as part of a team. What personal characteristics do you think make you a good fit for an international field school?

5. Describe how you handle unexpected challenges or adversity. Please explain how you are prepared for these in an international setting.

Check the boxes below I am aware that travel outside the country of Curaçao during the field school’s scheduled in-field dates is not permitted and agree to remain in the country for the duration of the in-field portion of the program. I am aware that this field school is not suitable for those with severe or life-threatening allergies to bee or insect stings. I am aware that I will be staying in field school accommodations consisting of shared dormitory rooms and agree to reside in the accommodations arranged for the field school program by the Field School Director and SFU Department of Archaeology. I am aware that some field activities may require me to work on open water and agree in such instances to always wear a personal flotation device and follow health and safety directions from field school staff. I am aware that the field school’s local partner organization requires field school participants to have tetanus and Covid-19 vaccinations and updated boosters. I am aware that international travel is subject to disruption, cancellations, and medical or other incidents or emergencies.
