Robert Muir Receives Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching

June 10, 2022

The Faculty of Environment has named Dr. Robert Muir as the recipient of the 2022 Dean's Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Congratulations to Dr. Muir for this outstanding achievement! We are grateful for his many contributions to teaching, administration, learning, and training, which have been central to the Department of Archaeology. Bob has been a member of the Undergraduate Curriculum Committee since 2009 (6 of those years as Chair), has developed long-term field school planning, teaches 7 courses per year, and has directed 8 field schools.

"My favourite project was in a class (Material Culture Analysis) taught by my favourite prof, Bob Muir! I got to attempt to build an atlatl and dart using traditional technologies and then test it, using a range finder to see how far the dart flew! The best part? Bob handed me the range finder and said, "Go do some science." - Hannah Bailey
