About
The Audain Gallery at SFU's School for the Contemporary Arts is dedicated to the exhibition and facilitation of contemporary artistic practice and to the fostering and dissemination of critical discourse on art and culture. The gallery presents a hybrid program that shows work by students at the School for the Contemporary Arts alongside work of practicing emerging and established artists. Through the Audain Visual Artist in Residence program (AVAIR) the gallery presents exhibitions, workshops, and events by leading visiting artists. Each year the Audain Gallery takes part in the MFA Graduating Festival, hosts the BFA Graduate Exhibition, and the BFA Third-year Project exhibition. Further student exhibitions and events are developed and programmed by a dedicated group of students who form the Perel Committee.

THE PEREL COMMITTEE
The Perel Committee programs student exhibitions in the Audain Gallery at SCA. The Committee is made up of students, alumni, and faculty from the School for the Contemporary Arts. The committee meets once a semester to review proposals from SCA students for artwork, events, and exhibitions to be included in the gallery’s program. Proposals are encouraged from all areas of our school and the committee looks for work from all disciplines and work that is interdisciplinary that is made to be exhibited in a gallery context.
The committee takes its name from the Perel Gallery, which was SFU’s first student gallery. It was located across the street at 112 West Hastings Street in what was then known as the Perel Building.
