The Perel Committee programs student exhibitions in the Audain Gallery at SCA. The Committee is made up of students and faculty from the School for the Contemporary Arts. The committee meets once a semester to review proposals from SCA students for artwork, events, and exhibitions to be included in the gallery’s program. Proposals are encouraged from all areas of our school and the committee looks for work from all disciplines and work that is interdisciplinary that is made to be exhibited in a gallery context.

Calls for work will be posted on this page. Please check back for the latest call!

The Perel Committee takes its name in honour of the first student-run gallery at SFU. In the 1980s the visual art area held its studio classes across the street from the Woodward’s building at 112 West Hastings Street. The studio comprised three floors and was above a clothing shop called Perel Brothers Tailors. The Perel Gallery was located directly above the shop! In naming our new project after a moment from our past, we hope to embrace some of the empowering and experimental nature of the Perel Gallery as we move forward to produce exhibitions at the Audain Gallery at SCA.
