Exhibition in Portugal
July 19, 2024
On 19 July 2024, the exhibition "A living history of Lisbon's cemeteries: Ethics, training and research on the human skeleton" (Uma história viva dos cemitérios de Lisboa: Ética, ensino e investigação sobre o esqueleto humano) was opened to the public.
The exhibit highlights the collaboration between Simon Fraser University (SFU) and the Cemeteries of Lisbon (Lisboa Cemitérios). Developed with the support of the Municipality of Lisbon (Câmara Municipal de Lisboa - CML), the exhibition featured two distinct sections:
- The first section on the history of funerary practices in Portugal from the end of the 19th Century to the 21st Century;
- The second section detailing the history, context and contributions to research of documented skeletal collections in Portugal.
A copy of the panels used on the exhibition can be found within the PDF files below.
