First news on the project
September 01, 2016
In September 2016, the Portuguese newspaper Diário de Notícias interviewed Dr. Hugo Cardoso about the project. A PDF version of it can be found in the file below.
In this newspaper article, Dr. Cardoso mentions his intentions to apply for funding to support the transportation of remains to Simon Fraser University (SFU). The international shipping of modern human remains follows strict regulations and must be done in welded metal boxes and requires a varierty of legal documents to be issued. The high cost associated with these logistics meant that the transportation of the initial 100-200 skeletons was no longer viable and a much smaller number would be considered.
