Dr. Bob Vernon

When did you meet Thelma? About 1973 or 1974
In what capacity did you know Thelma? Thelma was my first entomology professor when I took Entomology 317.  This course fanned my initial love of insects into a roaring flame that led to my career as an entomologist with Agriculture Canada.  I was well acquainted with Thelma throughout my MPM and PhD programs at SFU, and of course thereafter at various entomological society meetings around the country.

Where are you now? I currently live in the beautiful town of Chilliwack and work at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada Research Centre in Agassiz.  I have been a researcher with AAFC for 33 years, and can thank Thelma for her wonderful introduction to the insect world at SFU via her entomology 317 course.
Wishes: Thelma, I wish you a heartfelt 'Happy 100th Birthday'!!  You are truly a wonderful inspiration to so many of us who have had the privilege of knowing you over these many years.  You are the epitomy of professionalism, dedication and good form, and I am proud to have you as a friend and mentor.
