Dr. Eldon Yellowhorn’s Last Lecture

February 17, 2026

The Department of Indigenous Studies invites you to join us in celebrating Dr. Eldon Yellowhorn's upcoming retirement!

Dr. Yellowhorn will be presenting one of his last in-person lectures on Monday, March 2nd, on the topic of Heritage Foods.

Food security and sovereignty are issues that all Indigenous people encounter as consumers, particularly when accessing sea foods and country foods become more difficult.  Maintaining customary diets and choices is a daily challenge in a food system that encourages mass production and empty calories.  The result is a decline in quality-of-life issues while biopiracy & pharming Indigenous knowledge erode the use of traditional remedies.

Join us for this special lecture and light refreshments on:

Monday, March 2nd, from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm, at the First Peoples' Gathering House.
