Morgan Ritchie
I have been undertaking archaeological and ethnohistoric research in Coastal British Columbia for over 15 years, always directly with and for local First Nations communities. My passion is integrating information from field survey, mapping, excavation, interviews, and archival research to gain greater understanding of the distinctive ways that Indigenous people lived in relation to one another and to the land. I have published a number of research papers on the history and archaeology of the Salish Sea region and have helped to develop cultural heritage policies and site-specific management plans. I was fortunate to be invited to join an archaeological project on Xwe'etay several years ago, and am thrilled to remain involved with this important initiative. I am currently the Heritage & Environment Manager at Sts’ailes, supporting the community and territory that I have a deep attachment to.
