Instrumentation and Fabrication Facility

The Instrumentation and Fabrication Facility, also known as the Science Technical Centre, is a resource available to researchers, teachers, laboratories, staff and industry for technological support in repairing, designing and building electromechanical devices.

We are experts across three units – the machine shop, electronic shop and glass shop. We have state of the art equipment, software, tools and machinery to design, repair and manufacture electronic and mechanical devices.

The Instrumentation and Fabrication Facility is also a champion of sustainability and the circular economy – we give equipment a second life by re-using, refurbishing and repurposing technology. This results in cost savings across SFU.

If it lifts, heats, beeps, weighs, spins or shines – we can probably fix it or make it.
