Luis Victor-Gallardo

Ph.D. Student, Sustainable Energy Engineering

Biography

Luis Victor Gallardo is an electrical engineer from the University of Costa Rica. He holds a master's degree in electrical engineering from the same university. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Sustainable Energy  Engineering at Simon Fraser University, Canada. Since March 2018, he has worked on over 20 research and consulting projects with a national and international scope for entities such as the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), the Ministries of Environment and Energy across Latin America and the Caribbean, the United Nations Environment Program, and the World Bank. He is experienced in developing and applying energy system models to policy-relevant contexts and applying decision-making under uncertainty (DMDU) approaches. In his Ph.D., Luis will use models to explore how the demand-side flexibility of energy systems and the coordination of distributed energy resources can best contribute to the energy transition toward a carbon-neutral world.
