SFU Guest Accommodations is committed to providing excellent hospitality to all our guests staying with us. To provide the best experience possible, we request that each guest follow our lodging policies. If you have any questions or concerns about any of the following policies, please feel free to contact us.
Proof of Vaccination
As our Guest Accommodations spaces are located within University Residents Buildings, proof of vaccination will be required for all guests staying with SFU Guest Accomdations upon check-in.
Masks are required in all indoor public areas on campus. This includes the Dining Hall, elevators, the main office, hallways, washrooms, stairwells, study areas and other high traffic common areas where physical distancing isn't possible. For your protection, non-medical masks that cover your mouth and nose are recommended. Even with limited numbers of people on campus, common areas can be congested, making it difficult to consistently maintain a safe physical distance.
Check in: 3:00 p.m.
Any time after 3:00 p.m. in the Residence and Housing Administration Building. All guests and/or authorized group contact person must present a valid photo ID and credit card upon check-in. Guests checking in overnight (between 10:00 p.m. and 8:30 a.m.) are asked to use the phone on the outside of our office to contact our staff and gain entry into the office. Please note that group check-ins will be pre-arranged with the Guest Accommodations team.
Check out: 11:00 a.m.
Check out by 11:00 a.m. on your departure day. If guests and/or groups have not checked out of their rooms by the designated time, they will be subject to a late check-out fee. Room keys are to be returned to the Residence and Housing Administration office. There is a charge for lost or unreturned keys.
If you would like to adjust or cancel your reservation, we require a full 48 hours’ notice prior to your arrival date. Reservations cancelled within 48 hours of arrival are subject to a one-night charge. Cancellations can be made by contacting us by phone at 778-782-4503 or by emailing email@example.com.
Guests must be 19 years of age or older to book a reservation and stay with us. If guests are under the age of 19 they must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Youth groups (under age 19) who are staying with SFU Guest Accommodations must provide adult chaperones at a ratio of 1:10. Chaperones are responsible for the behaviour and full supervision of each individual in the group.
Our accommodation rates vary depending on the season. Our low-season is from September 15 to March 31 and our high-season is from April 1 to September 14. Please contact us to get the most up-to-date rates.

Simon Fraser University is dedicated to promoting healthy campuses. If an ozone treatment is required to remove smoke odour of any kind after a guest’s stay, there will be a $300.00 charge to the guest’s account. There is no tobacco or cannabis smoking permitted within any residential building located on campus. Smoking and other tobacco and cannabis use is now restricted to University Designated Outdoor Smoking Areas (DOSA). Separate DOSAs exist for tobacco and cannabis smoking. These areas are available on a map located on the SFU Smoking on Campus section of the Safety and Risk Services website found here: https://www.sfu.ca/srs/work-research-safety/general-safety/smoking.html. These areas are also outlined in the SFU Conference and Guest Accommodations Guide for Guests. This updated policy replaces the previous allowance of tobacco smoking 10 meters away from any building or air intake. Guests/Clients who do not respect the policy will be charged for extra cleaning and will be required to vacate the premises immediately.
We are a pet-free facility; however, we do authorize a service animal policy: If you will be arriving with a service animal, please be aware that you must show a valid government issued “Guide and service animal Certificate” at check-in. Service animals must wear a ‘service animal identification vest’ at all times while outside of the hotel room. Please Note: As the owner of the service animal you are responsible for their behaviour. The animal cannot be left unattended in the room at any time. Any damages caused by the service animal will be charged to the owner
Devices that produce an open flame are prohibited – including barbecues, candles and campfires.
SFU Residence is growing: there is ongoing construction occurring at, in or near most of our residence buildings. Prudent construction practices are followed but there will be noise, dust and/or temporary service interruptions while you are staying with us. Construction activity will follow city of Burnaby Noise By Laws that allow for construction activity between 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. M-F and between 9:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. on Saturdays. The ongoing construction has been taken in account in determining our 2020 rates. No refunds will be provided as a result of construction-related concerns, issues or disruptions.
Alcohol consumption is not permitted in public spaces, thereby limiting consumption to accommodation rooms or licensed premises only. Possession or consumption of alcohol by individuals under 19 years of age in British Columbia is a violation of provincial law and university policy. Individuals found in contravention of policy regulations will be asked to vacate residence and campus immediately.
