Vice-Provost and Associate Vice-President, Students & International

Rummana Khan Hemani has spent the past three decades working in higher education administration with a focus on Student Services and served as the Registrar and Executive Director, Student Enrollment at Simon Fraser University from 2016 to 2020. Her professional experience spans admissions, financial aid, academic advising, student transition and success, co-curricular learning, student information systems, and provincial policy on post-secondary admissions and transfer. She serves on a number of provincial organizations including the BC Council on Admissions and Transfer and the Education Planner BC Steering Committee. Rummana completed her BBA and MEd at SFU. Her research interests are in academic advising and its implications for international student success. She is currently completing a PhD in Education with a focus on intercultural issues in academic advising as they impact international and new Canadian students.

Office of the VPSI

Led by the Vice-Provost & Associate VP, Students & International, the VPSI Office is responsible for providing administrative leadership to Student Services. Through leading strategic and business planning, human resources, budget, and space management, and by leading high priority projects that span across the service. Also by providing institutional leadership on student issues and critical incidents and coordinating Student Services’ response to these. Additionally, the Office stewards the University’s relationship with SFU’s student societies and their elected student leaders.
