Biography

Lisa Leblanc is City Engineer and Deputy CAO at City of New Westminster, and is proud to support the City’s bold action on sustainable asset management, climate action and inclusive transportation. She is deeply committed to learning and sharing knowledge, and enjoys creating opportunities for staff to grow in their careers. Working alongside compassionate, skilled, and committed colleagues to deliver high quality solutions to tough problems, she has developed a deep appreciation for the curiosity and teamwork that sparks innovation.

Having worked in municipal government for nearly 30 years, Lisa has developed a deep appreciation for the range of services that are delivered at a local level, and for the value that post-secondary research and ideation bring to the complex problems faced by cities world-wide. As an Adjunct Professor, Lisa is committed to:

1. connecting SFU students with municipal practice, to offer opportunities for students to observe, question, reflect and experiment with policy and practice ideas;
2. creating opportunities for City staff to develop their professional practice by engaging with students, inviting students to question City policy and practice, and inviting them to explore and experiment with innovative ideas;
3. exploring different models of collaboration between local government and post secondary institutions, as a means of advancing innovative responses to the increasingly complex issues facing local governments.
