Are you passionate about building better cities and improving urban life for everyone? The Jonathan X. Coté Graduate Leadership Award in Urban Studies does just that by recognizing exceptional leadership in the field of urban studies.

This award supports outstanding Master of Urban Studies or Graduate Diploma in Urban Studies students who have demonstrated a commitment to tackling challenging environmental, economic, and social issues facing our communities, much like Jonathan Cote, a passionate urbanist and former two-term Mayor of New Westminster.

Jonathan's extensive experience in local government, serving as the Chair of the Mayors Council for regional transportation and as the Chair of Regional Planning in Metro Vancouver, makes him a valuable addition to the Urban Studies program at SFU. Prior to being elected, Jonathan completed his Master's Degree in Urban Studies at Simon Fraser University, making him a testament to the success of the program.
