IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast 2024 with WIC

April 11, 2024

The Chemistry department celebrated the UN International Day of Women and Girls in Science by joining in on the IUPAC Global Women’s Breakfast (#GWB2024), which was held on 27 February.

Hosted by our very own Women in Chemistry (WIC) group, the morning’s proceedings saw faculty and graduate students come together to mark the achievements of women in STEM with this year’s theme being “Catalyzing Diversity in Science”. In addition to this event, the group also celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing a movie night on March 8th.

With its beginnings as a lean in circle, under the guidance of Dr Corina Andreoiu, WIC was formally established in the department by graduate students. Affiliated with the Canadians Working for Inclusivity in Chemical Sciences, Engineering and Technology Network of the Chemical Institute of Canada the group hosts an annual calendar of events for women in chemistry.
