Biography

Hazelle is a third-year Computer Engineering student. She joined WiE to advocate for underrepresented groups and to encourage more girls to pursue careers in STEM with confidence in their abilities. She loves rugby, playing the piano, and petting dogs.

 

Rose Epstein

Hi! My name Rose. I'm in my third year of computer engineering. I joined WiE to help inspire the next generation of female engineers, and make a positive impact for other female engineering students here at SFU! My favourite thing about WiE is the community and the people that are a part of it. In my spare time, I love being with friends and chasing sunsets:)

Samin Moradkhan

Samin is a third year engineering student interested in AI, robotics and Systems engineering. Her passion is helping people and encouraging new students to get involved with the community. She is very happy to be a part of this team, plan events for all students and  bring young women together. She loves travelling, doing sports and eating ice-cream.

Sharanjit Virdi

Computer Engineering 

Sharanjit is a fourth-year student majoring in Computer Engineering, and minoring in Computer Science. Through WiE, she hopes to create an inclusive environment for other women in engineering. She strongly believes that it is very important to encourage young girls to pursue careers in STEM to have more diversity in the field. Through outreach programs and workshops she hopes to make a difference in someone's life!

Palak Sharma

Biography

Palak is a first year engineering student, hoping to major in computer engineering. She is passionate about working for female empowerment and education, and hopes that soon, all STEM fields will be entirely inclusive for all students, regardless of their gender. As the VP External of WiE, she hopes to bring in many opportunities with companies and organizations for the club and its members.

Daphne Chung

Biography

Daphne is a third year engineering student, majoring in electronics. Through WiE, she found an interest in helping women have a more comfortable experience while studying engineering. As the director of creative for WiE, she uses her creativity and love for design to evoke change.

Laiba Khaliq

Laiba is a first year student at SFU-Beedie. Through WiE she hopes to advocate for women empowerment and unity. Her interests lie in entrepreneurship and finance. As VP of Finance Laiba is determined to help WiE win more grants and continue to be financially responsible.

Taaibah Malik

Taaibah is a second year ENSC student who is interested in Computer and Systems Engineering. She loves to read, watch Criminal Minds, hike, and adores animals. She enjoys working with the WiE team to expand the presence of women in STEM, as well as contributing to and being part of an inclusive community.

Biography

Paniz is a fourth-year Computer Engineering student. She loves to get involved in school and clubs, and WiE is one of her favourite groups because of its amazing purpose. Paniz hopes to not only encourage younger women to choose to study Engineering, but to also improve the experience that women have while studying engineering.

Christina Nguyen

Sustainable Energy Engineering

Christina is a second-year Sustainable Energy Engineering student. She loves to read, watch k-dramas, and spend time with her cat, Soup. As Dir. of Communications and Social Media, she hopes to encourage young women to pursue a career in STEM and help provide an inclusive environment for everyone in engineering.
