Round 1 tickets will be available from: Friday, May 22 at 8:30 a.m. - Wednesday, May 24 at 11:59 p.m.
About tickets
Who needs tickets?
All guests in Convocation Mall need tickets. Children aged 2 and under do not require tickets if they’re seated in the lap of an adult.
Graduands do not need tickets, but they must confirm their attendance by following the steps listed on the Graduation Checklist for undergraduate degrees or graduate degrees.
Who can claim tickets?
Only graduands can claim tickets in round 1 and 2. Graduands and general public can claim tickets in round 3.
How much do tickets cost?
Tickets are free.
When are tickets available?
All times are in Pacific Time (PT).
Round 1
Friday, May 22 at 8:00 a.m. – Wednesday, May 24 at 11:59 p.m.
Round 2:
Friday, May 29 at 8:00 a.m. – Wednesday, June 3 at 11:59 p.m.
Round 3:
Friday, June 5 at 8:00 a.m. – 3.5 hours before the start of the ceremony
How many tickets are available per graduand?
Ticket limits vary by ceremony and for each round, it depends entirely on inventory.
Round 1
Graduands can typically claim 2–3 guest tickets, depending on the number of graduands in their ceremony.
If a graduand misses the Round 1 deadline, we cannot guarantee that any tickets will still be available in Round 2. To avoid disappointment, tickets should be claimed on Eventbrite during Round 1.
Round 2
After the Round 1 deadline, any remaining tickets are moved into the extra ticket inventory. These tickets are released—if available—during Round 2.
The ticket limit varies by ceremony and may range from 0–3 tickets per graduand.
Round 3
Any remaining tickets for each ceremony are released on a first‑come, first‑served basis until sold out.
Claiming and cancelling tickets
How are tickets claimed?
Tickets are claimed through Eventbrite. Each ceremony has its own Eventbrite event page.
Are access codes for Eventbrite needed?
Yes — for Round 1 and Round 2 only. Round 3 does not use access codes.
Access codes are emailed by SFU Student Services (reginfo@sfu.ca), with the subject line: “Important information to prepare for your attendance” the day after graduands receive their Senate email confirming their graduation.
Why is my access code showing as invalid?
Your code will appear invalid if:
- You try to use it before the ticket round has opened
- You’ve already used the code to check out with your tickets (codes are single‑use)
Your code will automatically become valid once the corresponding ticket round begins.
I’m attending more than one ceremony. How do I claim tickets?
If you are graduating with degrees from two different faculties and plan to attend more than one ceremony, you may need assistance with your access codes.
If your codes do not work email convo_tix@sfu.ca for support.
Please note:
- Each ceremony has its own Eventbrite page
- Tickets for each ceremony must be claimed separately
Need to cancel tickets?
If your guests can no longer attend and the tickets will not be used, email convo_tix@sfu.ca so we can cancel the tickets and make them available for other graduands.
Sharing/downloading tickets and guest information
How do guests receive their tickets?
Graduands must ensure guests receive their tickets before the ceremony. There is no on-site ticket collection, so all guests must arrive with their tickets already downloaded or printed.
What happens if I entered my guests’ email addresses when claiming tickets?
If you provided a guest’s email address for each attendee:
- Each guest will receive an email from Eventbrite with a link to “claim your order”
- Guests must log in (or create an Eventbrite account) using the same email address you submitted
- Once logged in, they can access and download their ticket(s)
What happens if I entered my own email address for all tickets?
If you used your own email for every ticket:
- You will receive an Eventbrite email with a link to “go to my tickets”
- Log in (or create an Eventbrite account) using that same email
- Download the tickets and then share each ticket with your guests
Note: If you claimed multiple tickets, they will appear in one PDF document
What is the best way to download and share tickets?
For the best experience, we recommend using a web browser, not the Eventbrite mobile app.
- The web browser allows you to download PDF tickets that can be shared electronically or printed
- PDF tickets also include important event information for your guests
- App tickets cannot be printed, are harder to share, and do not contain event details
Where can guests find important event information?
Both the Eventbrite confirmation email and the downloadable PDF tickets include essential information guests must review before attending.
If needed, graduands can also direct guests to this page: Guest information
