Step 5: Find A Supervisor
MASc and PhD program admissions at the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering are faculty driven. Applicants must have a Mechatronics faculty member who is willing to act as their supervisor in order to be admitted.
An admission recommendation is NOT a recommendation letter. Admission recommendations at SFU are admission requests made by faculty to admit an applicant.
Please contact MSE graduate supervisors to establish a connection before submitting an application. You can find each faculty member's research area and interests at the link. The faculty member who is recommending you for admission will notify you of their intent.
Faculty members review applications and make recommendations on an ongoing basis when they are ready to take on new students. Please note that not all faculty members have the capacity to take on new graduate students every term.
An MSE faculty member must be willing to be your supervisor and submit an admission recommendation for you to the university.
Please only submit an admission application if an MSE faculty member has already communicated to you in writing that they wish to admit you.
Step 6: Submit Application
Applicants who have been recommended for admission will be contacted by the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering. If you have questions regarding your application, please contact Mechatronics Graduate Program Assistant at mse_grad_admission@sfu.ca.
