Step 5: Find Your Supervisor

Graduate-level admissions at the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering (MSE), MASc and PhD programs, are faculty driven. This means applicants are required to have an MSE faculty member who is willing to act as their supervisor and submit an admission recommendation for them.

Faculty members review applications and make recommendations on an on-going basis when they are ready to take on new students. Applicants are also encouraged to get in touch with MSE faculty to establish a connection.

Note that we are not able to offer admission to MASc and PhD applicants who do not have an admission recommendation by an MSE faculty member. MEng applicants are exempt from this requirement.

Note that we are only able to offer admission to MASc and PhD applicants who have an admission recommendation submitted by an MSE faculty member.

Step 6: Submit Your Application

Follow the instructions on the Application Process page of the Graduate and Postdoctoral Studies (GPS) website to submit your application online, and pay the application fee.

Step 7: Wait

The admission process can take from a few weeks up to a few months. You will be contacted by the School of Mechatronic Systems Engineering if you have been recommended for admission.

If you have questions regarding your application, please contact our Graduate Program Assistant at mse_grad_admission@sfu.ca. Due to the high volume of emails, we are only able to reply to application status inquiries from applicants who have been recommended for admission.
