Departmental Scholarships & Awards
TERMS OF REFERENCE
Students must meet the Terms of Reference noted on each scholarship and award, and, unless otherwise stated, all students must meet the following criteria:
SCHOLARSHIPS
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.50.
- Be enrolled in a minimum of 12 units of standard graded courses in the term of award. Challenge, audit and non-credit courses are not considered.
- Have completed at least 12 units of standard graded courses at SFU.
- A student holding an SFU Entrance Scholarship is not eligible for any other University administered scholarships.
AWARDS
- Have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.00 and be in good academic standing.
- Be enrolled in a minimum of nine units of standard graded courses in the term of award. Challenge, audit, and non-credit courses are not considered.
Fall 2025 Departmental Scholarships and Awards
The application period for the Fall 2025 cycle of Departmental Scholarships and Awards is now closed.
Successful applicants will receive official confirmation via email from SFU Financial Aid and Awards approximately six to eight weeks after the application deadline.
Due to the high volume of applications, only students selected to receive awards or scholarships will be notified.

The information provided in your application is collected under the authority of the University Act R.S.B.C. 1996, c.468, and is related directly to and needed by the University. The information will be used to evaluate Departmental Nomination Awards and Scholarships. Additionally, information may be shared with donors and be utilized for future promotion of awards and scholarships.
