Business Honours

Students who challenge themselves to maintain high academic standing have further opportunities to bolster their resumes and become more competitive in the job market. Exceed expectations by completing a Business Honours degree.

A Business Honours degree consists of 126 units (6 units more within a declared concentration area(s) than a traditional Business degree). For more details on the Business Administration Honours and Joint Honours programs, please refer to the SFU Calendar.

Business Administration Honours Program Checklist by Year

Program requirements for students admitted in Summer 2020 or earlier. Please refer to the SFU Calendar.

Admission Requirements

The following grade point averages (GPAs) must be maintained for entry into and graduation from any of the Honours degree programs:

  • minimum 3.33 cumulative grade point average (CGPA)
  • minimum 3.33 upper division CGPA
  • minimum 3.33 CGPA on all BUS and BUEC courses
  • minimum 3.33 CGPA on all upper-division BUS and BUEC courses

In addition to meeting the GPA requirements above, acceptance into the Honours program requires the completion of*:

  • all required lower-division courses (see Degree Planner Checklist)
  • 15 units of upper-division coursework in Business

Application Process

Please note that application to the Honours program occurs one term before the actual admission term (e.g. if you are applying in Spring 2025, your admission to the Honours program would be for Summer 2025, and your program requirements would be those listed in the Summer 2025 SFU Calendar).

The Barrie and Diana Carol Martin Memorial Scholarship in Business Administration

One or more scholarships, valued at a minimum of $5,000 each, will be granted annually to undergraduate students who meet the following criteria:

  • are enrolled full-time in the term of eligibility;
  • are pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in the Beedie School of Business and are declared in the Business Honours program; and
  • are in excellent academic standing.

The scholarship will be granted by the Senate Undergraduate Awards Adjudication Committee.
