January 23, 2025

Our SFU Beedie MBA team made their mark at the 37th annual National MBA Games, securing third place in the Academic Ranking category. For this year’s games, more than 300 MBA students from 14 universities competed in academics, sports, and team spirit competitions hosted by University Canada West (UCW) in Vancouver from January 3 to 5.

The National MBA Games is Canada’s largest annual MBA competition that provides a platform for future business leaders to engage in rigorous competition while building camaraderie with their peers. The Games featured a diverse lineup of events that tested participants’ abilities across multiple dimensions, including case competitions, basketball, dodgeball, and group events designed to promote teamwork and enthusiasm.

The academic competition, central to the MBA Games, included three core challenges: the Google Pixel Case, the Canada Learning Code Case, and the Launchpad. SFU Beedie’s team showcased outstanding analytical skills in the Google Pixel take-home case competition securing first place under the guidance of their coach, MBA alumnus Patrick Cameron.

This year’s theme, "Digital Equity: Closing the Chasm," challenged participants to develop practical solutions for nurturing an open, secure, and sustainable digital business ecosystem. Our team excelled in presenting innovative strategies for critical issues that resonated with the judging panel consisting of industry experts and sponsors.

Other key event highlights included the Opening Ceremony at the Harbour Front Ballroom, where participants gathered to kick off the games, and the Gala Night, followed by Athletic events held at the Richmond Olympic Oval and Point Grey Secondary School, inspiring networking alongside celebrations.

SFU Beedie extends its congratulations to the winning teams and commends all participating teams for their dedication, creativity, and sportsmanship.

Congratulations again to the SFU Beedie MBA team on their hard work and accomplishment. Their achievement serves as an inspiration to future participants and highlights the value of collaboration, innovation, and determination.
