A History of Islamophobia in Canada: A Lecture by Hassam Munir

On Tuesday, November 4th at 11 AM PST in a co-sponsored event with the Islamophobia Legal Assistance Hotline, Hassam Munir provided a lecture that gave a history of Islamophobia in Canada.

This event will highlight historical spikes in the rates of Islamophobia, what seems to have spurred them, and what the history and origins of Islamophobia in Canada are.

About the Speaker:

Hassam Munir is a Muslim history researcher and educator. He has pursued an MA in History at the University of Toronto. He has led seminars/tours in Canada, the US, Türkiye and Uzbekistan. He has worked with the Ontario Historical Society, and was recognized by Heritage Toronto as an Emerging Historian in 2017. He is currently part of the team at Yaqeen Institute for Islamic Research.
