Projects

Explore the new and ongoing projects initiated by the Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies.

The Centre for Comparative Muslim Studies is pleased to announce the launch of our new Project on Palestine Studies. This dedicated project—the first of its kind at CCMS—is geared to expand the programming on the history, present, and future of Palestine here at SFU, bringing in a multiplicity of disciplines, local and international scholars, and resources in order to accomplish its mandate.

Project on Islamophobia

In 2024, the Project on Islamophobia launched in order to challenge Islamophobia occurring on SFU's campus that targeted Muslims and those perceived to be Muslim. Systemic racism and prejudice remain persistent problems at SFU and beyond across the Vancouver Metropolitan Area, and CCMS commits itself to providing programming to educate and highlight the diversity of Muslim societies, histories, and cultures, as well as for non-Muslim populations living in the "Muslim world." CCMS intends to continue to provide resources to our local communities to access services and networks they may need in fighting Islamophobia.
