UNDERGRAD Researchers
Farzana Ali
Fall 2021 -
Farzana is a fourth-year undergraduate student completing her degree with a Major in Linguistics, Minor in Learning and Developmental Disabilities, and a Certificate in Speech Sciences. Farzana’s academic interests include first and second language acquisition, perception, and factors which affect speech, language, and communication in those with developmental or acquired language disorders. After completing her Bachelor’s degree she plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology. Outside of school, she enjoys outdoor activities, rock climbing, painting and gardening.
Julianne Bittante
Spring 2022 -
Julianne is an undergraduate student in her fourth year. She is completing her degree with a Major in Linguistics, a Minor in Learning and Developmental Disabilities, and a Certificate in Speech Sciences. Her academic interests include language acquisition and language and communication disorders, particularly in children and infants. Julianne hopes to become a Speech-Language Pathologist in the future and work with young children. In her free time, Julianne enjoys practicing calligraphy and watercolours, reading, and taking care of houseplants!
Jiyun (Daisy) Choi
SUMMER 2022 -
Jiyun (Daisy) Choi is currently in her fourth year completing her Major in Linguistics, Major in French (Concentration for Teachers), and Certificate in Speech Sciences. Her main academic interests include language acquisition and learning, perception, and various aspects of theoretical linguistics. Daisy is hoping to pursue a Masters in Speech-Language Pathology in the future. In the meantime, you can find her gaming, crafting the perfect playlists on Spotify, and escaping into sci-fi and fantasy worlds!
Sahibnoor Dhami
SUMMER 2022 -
Sahibnoor is an undergraduate student pursuing a Major in Linguistics, an Extended Minor in Psychology, and a Certificate in the Linguistics of Speech Science. She plans to pursue an MSc in Speech-Language Pathology in the future. She is interested in bilingualism and first and second language acquisition. In her free time, she enjoys baking and reading.
Janna Grant
SUMMER 2022 -
Janna is an undergraduate student in her third year at SFU. She is taking a major is linguistics, a double minor in psychology and a minor in learning and developmental disabilities, and a certificate in speech sciences. Janna hopes to become a Speech Language Pathologist in the future. She is particularly interested in language and communication disorders, as well as bilingualism and multilingualism. In her free time, Janna loves camping and exploring the outdoors, as well as singing, painting, and reading.
Pritika Purba
SUMMER 2022 -
Pritika is an undergraduate student in her fourth year, majoring in Behavioral Neuroscience at SFU. Her academic interests include language acquisition, developmental psychology, and language disorders in children and infants. Pritika plans to pursue further studies in the area of Psychology or Speech-Language Pathology after completing her undergraduate degree. In her free time, she enjoys reading, painting, watching Netflix and playing with her 3 year-old mini poodle!
Sze Ching Sara Wong
Winter 2023 -
Sara is a fourth-year undergraduate student at SFU pursuing a major in Linguistics, and a Certificate in the Linguistics of Speech Science. She is interested in exploring first and second language acquisition, sociolinguistics, and speech perception. After completing her BA, she hopes to pursue a Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology. In her free time, she enjoys drawing, language learning, and playing with cats!
Siu Kwan Antonius Tam
Summer 2023 -
Antonius is a fourth-year undergraduate student at the University of Hong Kong majoring in Psychology and Neuroscience. He is working as a MITACS intern for the summer at SFU. His research interest is in the field of developmental psychology, specifically in statistical learning in language and second language acquisition. After graduation, he hopes to pursue a Master's degree in School psychology. Outside of working and studying, he enjoys hiking and walking along the seaside.
