Randy Smyth

Randy Smyth is the Director of Engineering at Vanderlande in the Airports and Parcel business unit of North America. Vanderlande is a global leader in Logistics Process Automation in the airports, parcel, and warehouse markets. Randy leads teams responsible for projects such as the automated baggage systems for YVR, JFK, LAX, and MCO. With several decades of experience driving growth, technical acumen in teams, operational improvements, revenue and market share for global organizations, Randy brings a solid understanding of the importance of quality education and the skills needed in technical arenas globally and locally. Previous roles held have included Chief Technical Officer for a global materials handling manufacturer, Engineering Manager for a company utilizing machine vision in the paper making industry, and Director of Operations for a multinational corporation doing high volume manufacturing of metal products in the retail industry.  Randy has enjoyed his success as a people manager, and himself has engineered designs of equipment that, though some are decades old, are still in use today and unchanged. Randy is a graduate of BCIT’s engineering program in mechanical design.
