What Do I Need To Do Before I Draft My Forms for Funding

1. Understand Applicable Policies 

Federal: 

• National Security Guidelines for Research Partnerships (NSGRP)  
• Policy on Sensitive Technology Research and Affiliations of Concern (STRAC)   

Tri-Agency:

• Tri-Agency Guidance on Research Security 

Trainings:

• Government of Canada Research Security Training Courses

2. Identify Applicable Policies

Review the following guides arranged per funding opportunity to determine NSGRP/STRAC applicability:

• NSERC 
• CIHR 
• SSHRC (including NFRF) 
• CFI

3. Fill Out Applicable Forms

• NSGRP Risk Assessment Form -  Please ensure that it includes the names of all partner organizations and team members. You may consult the Sample Risk Assessment Form, along with the Hints and Tips to Prepare an NSGRP Risk Assessment Form, for guidance.
  • CFI-Specific Private-Sector Partner Identification Form 

• STRAC Attestation Form  - You may consult the Hints and Tips to Prepare a STRAC Attestation Form for guidance.
  • CFI-Specific STRAC Attestation Form

4. Contact the Research Security Team
