Networking

Networking opens doors to new opportunities and experiences.  Below are some tips on how to network with potential helpers in your career, such as employers, TA's, profs, or other students.

Career and Volunteer Services hosts a multitude of events throughout the year, including employers who want to meet (and hire!) SFU students and alumni. Check out our events page to see who is coming to campus and join us for an info session.

Don't miss out on a chance to connect!

Tip

Networking can be a powerful tool in finding a job! Studies show that 75-80% of opportunities are found through connections.

Information Interviews

Information Interviews and conversational research will help you learn about the kinds of work in the world, and the ways you can get involved. Whereas online research gives you someone else's point of view, Information Interviews are a first hand account. Check out our Information Interviews section for tips on reaching out to make authentic connections with people that interest you.
