Spring 2026 Convocation Senator Election
A call for nominations is now issued in accordance with the University Act and the Rules of Senate for four (4) convocation senator positions on Senate. The nomination deadline is April 2, 2026 at 4:00 pm.
Term of office: June 1, 2026 to May 31, 2029
Nomination Deadline: April 2, 2026 at 4:00 pm
Online Voting (if required): April 8 - April 17, 2026
Convocation senators are elected by and from those who have graduated from SFU (members of convocation). The duties include attending Senate meetings (once a month) and serving on at least one Senate committee. Senate is responsible for academic governance at the university, including all matters pertaining to teaching and research.
Nomination Form:
- Acceptance of Nomination signed by the nominee
- Nomination of Candidate signed by the required number of nominators (five) - see Eligibility below
- Submit Candidate Biographical Information/Statement*
*This information will be made available for voter reference on the Convocation Elections website prior to the online voting period.

- Faculty (including Professor Emeriti)
- Members of Senate
- President of university
Information on Senate:
Senate is responsible for academic governance at the university, including all matters that bear on teaching and research. Senate meetings are held at the Burnaby campus on Mondays once a month at either 5:30 pm or 7:00 pm depending on the agenda.
