Canadian Indigenous Students
SFU offers a variety of financial assistance opportunities to Canadian Indigenous students.
Indigenous can be contexualized as "Indigenous peoples of Canada" to refer specifically to First Nations, Métis, and Inuit peoples.
Entrance Scholarships, Awards, & Bursaries
Entrance Scholarships, Entrance Awards, and Entrance Bursaries recognize and reward students entering SFU. Some are available specifically for Indigenous students.
Scholarships
Scholarships recognize the outstanding academic achievement of continuing SFU students. Some scholarships are available specifically for Indigenous students.
Awards
Awards generally acknowledge the outstanding contributions or achievements made to the community by continuing SFU students. Some awards are available specifically for Indigenous students.
Bursaries
Bursaries are awarded to continuing SFU students based on demonstrated financial need. Some bursaries are available specifically for Indigenous students.
Work-Study
The work-study program provides paid,part-time on-campus work opportunities for full-time students.
Student Loans
Part-time students, BC and non-BC residents enrolled in eligible programs can apply to a variety of government assistance, student loans and grants, and student lines of credit.

Funding is available for graduate students attending and participating in a conference. For eligibility information and how to apply, please see the Office of Graduate and Post-Doctoral Studies.
Emergency funding may be available to students with a sudden exceptional circumstance. Please contact the Indigenous Student Centre (ISC) for further information.
