School-Age (5-12 years)

School Age care at SFU Burnaby Mountain is provided to those attending University Highlands Elementary. School Age care at Sapperton is provided for children attending Seaforth Elementary and Armstrong Elementary. Care is provided before and after school. Full-day childcare is also provided to the children at all three schools on school holidays, including winter, spring, and summer breaks. Learning and practicing life skills such as high self-esteem and positive social skills are the focus for this age group through play. Learning to become positive contributing citizens through creativity and fun is also emphasized. Children participate in setting rules and planning the program activities. A special effort is made to facilitate the transition between home, school and the childcare centre.

Summer activities include field trips, hiking, swimming, arts and crafts, games, co-operative play, theme days, and sports.
