Dr. Taco Niet travelled to Windhoek, Namibia, and Yalda Saedi supported folks online, for the Energy Modelling Platform for Africa (EMP-A) training event.  This event, organized by Climate Compatible Growth UK (CCG), the UN Economic Commission for Africa (UN ECA) with multiple international partners including the World Bank, International Energy Agency (IEA), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), brought together ~70 participants and upwards of 15 trainers to build energy systems modelling capability for participants from countries across Africa.

Support for participants included debugging and modelling assistance, scenario development and analysis as well as feedback on presentations. Yalda focussed her support on participants in the CLEWs track while Taco supported modellers in both the Climate, Land, Energy and Water systems (CLEWs) and OSeMOSYS tracks.  Participants developed policy insights and analysis that was shared on Wednesday, April 26th.  The best presentations from each track were invited to present their work at the High Level Meeting on Thursday, April 27th.

Supporting events such as the Energy Modelling Platform for Africa allows ΔE+ to connect with policy makers and modellers from around the world and contribute to the development of actionable and impactful decarbonization strategies developed by country analysts considering the specific challenges and opportunities for their unique situation.
