Partnership with Booth University College secures nearly $1 million in program funding

We’re excited to announce that we will be co-developing four new projects with the School for Continuing Studies at Booth University College in Winnipeg, thanks to nearly $1 million in support from the Salvation Army Development Endowment Fund.

Over the next three years, the newly approved funds will allow us to develop and deliver a leadership essentials program for new leaders. The pilot program will be offered by both SFU Continuing Studies and Booth University College.

The funds will also give us the opportunity to further develop our Community Capacity Building Certificate program, which offers those who experience systemic barriers to post-secondary education with an opportunity to plan, implement and evaluate a meaningful community project. The program will serve learners in both Vancouver and Winnipeg.

A portion of the funds will also go toward researching the feasibility of a new program focused on resilience, vicarious trauma and burnout for frontline social service providers and organizations.

The remaining funds will be used to adapt and transfer two courses from our successful Non-Profit Management Certificate program to a similar program at Booth.

The Salvation Army endowment was originally established in 1989 to assist Salvation Army officers and personnel in pursuing advanced educational opportunities.
