Managing product quality is one of the key responsibilities of a project manager.

In this course, you'll explore what quality means within a business management context, how to apply it to different projects and how to manage projects so that quality is built in.

What will I learn?

After completing this course, you should be able to do the following:

  • Demonstrate your understanding of what constitutes a set of quality goals
  • Manage a project to achieve quality standards
  • Demonstrate your understanding of internationally recognized quality standards and processes

How will I learn?

You will work with a group of peers throughout the course and be able to share experiences, ideas and knowledge. Expect to cover concepts through a combination of theory, best practices, real-world case studies and networking opportunities. 

You are expected to participate in exercises, group discussions, case studies and presentations. There will also be reading and assignments.

How will I be evaluated?

We evaluate this course on a pass/fail basis using a combination of assignments, individual or group projects, participation and attendance. You must participate in discussions and activities and complete any assignments.

Textbooks and learning materials

To complete the Project Management Certificate program you will need to pass all 13 courses. You will also be expected to have read A Guide to the Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK® Guide), 6th edition, which you can purchase through Amazon.ca. In this course, we will reference relevant chapters of the PMBOK® Guide.

Hardware and software requirements

You will need a computer that is connected to the internet so that you can access Canvas, our online course management system. You can check if your browser is compatible with Canvas by accessing Canvas guides here. We recommend you use Google Chrome or Firefox.

Also, you will need to enable your computer’s audio and microphone to participate in live sessions offered through the Blackboard Collaborate virtual platform (within Canvas). You can check if your computer is compatible with Blackboard Collaborate here.
