Hande Gurses

Hande Gurses holds a PhD in literary studies from University College London. Her primary research areas include contemporary world literature, cosmopolitanism, ecocriticism and critical animal studies. She is also interested in inclusive pedagogies and contemplative practices in higher education.

She recently co-edited a volume on ecocritical approaches to contemporary Turkish literature titled, Animals, Plants, and Landscapes: An Ecology of Turkish Literature and Film (Routledge Press, 2019). She is currently working on a manuscript titled, Reframing Bridges and Borders in the Fictions of Orhan Pamuk. She has held positions at the University of Massachussets Amherst, the University of Toronto and Ryerson University. Currently she is a visiting assistant professor in the World Literature program at Simon Fraser University.
