Farshid Kazemi
Farshid Kazemi is an adjunct lecturer in film studies in the SFU School for the Contemporary Arts. He holds a PhD in Islamic and Middle Eastern studies from the University of Edinburgh. He is a cultural, media and film theorist specializing in an interdisciplinary approach to film and media studies, Iranian studies and Islamic and Middle Eastern studies. His work has appeared in academic journals and edited volumes such as Camera Obscura, Cinema Iranica, Journal of Middle East Women’s Studies and The I.B. Tauris Handbook of Iranian Cinema. He has published two books: A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night (Liverpool University Press, 2021) and Iranian Cinema with Psychoanalysis: The Interpreter of Desires (LACK book series, Routledge, 2025).
