Apply to Graduate

Step 1:

Check your eligibility

You can apply to graduate after the final course in your program has been graded. Log in to your SFU Continuing Studies student account to check your grades and completed courses against the program requirements.

Look under:  My Studies > Completed Courses

See how to view your grades online

Note: Taking individual courses does not automatically enroll you in a program. You must apply to a program before you can apply to graduate.

Step 2:

Apply to graduate

Once you have met all requirements, you can apply online to graduate. You will need to apply to graduate by April 15 for approval in May, or by September 15 for approval in October.

  1. Log in to your student account and update your mailing address.
  2. Complete the Apply to Graduate form

Step 3:

Wait for approval

Once we confirm your eligibility, your graduation request will be recommended to the Senate Committee on Continuing Studies. The committee meets twice a year (May and October) to grant certificates/diplomas and SFU alumni status. If you require proof of program completion sooner, you can Request Your Transcript.

Step 4:

Get ready to celebrate

Once the Senate Committee has approved your graduation request, we will email you. We will then prepare and mail you an official signed parchment within about six weeks. As an SFU Continuing Studies graduate, you’ll be granted SFU alumni status and become eligible for all SFU alumni benefits.
