Applying to Semester in Dialogue
For Fall 2023: The Future of Healthcare, the application deadline is August 15th, 2023.
If you are interested in applying for our Fall 2023 Semester in Dialogue: The Future of Healthcare, there are two ways to submit your application:
- Using the online application form
- By email by downloading this application form and sending the completed form and any accompanying documents to semester@sfu.ca
The application form consists 10 questions, two of which are long answers (~250 words each), as well as an optional application for a $1,500 award, which also includes two long answer questions (~250 words each).
To complete your application, prospective applicants are invited to help us get to know them better by providing additional information. We welcome narratives about yourself, such as a story about work you are proud of, or a reflection on your identity/ positionality. Traditional materials like transcripts, resumes and letters of reference are currently optional. Applicants will have an opportunity to speak with the instructor to discuss whether the Semester in Dialogue is a good fit. We will look to create a diverse cohort of 20 students from a range of departments and faculties.

Application Requirements
The Semester in Dialogue program is open to SFU students and non-SFU students.
SFU undergraduate students from all departments and faculties who have completed 45 credit hours prior to beginning the program, including transfer credits from other institutions are eligible to apply. The program also can be taken post-graduation as a special student, and credits can be applied towards a post-baccalaureate diploma.
Students who have completed credits for DIAL 393 and DIAL 394 are not eligible to participate in the program.
For applicants who do not go to SFU, if accepted to the program, the applicant will apply to SFU as a visiting student. This process will be supported by the Semester in Dialogue Program Coordinator.
