Classroom Used Furniture Recycling

Classroom furniture has to meet exacting functional criteria such as flexibility, aesthetics, compatibility with existing, strength and durability. It is also important to consider how this furniture will be disposed of at the end of life.

Facilities Services has worked for many years with Calstone inc., a Canadian furniture manufacturer in part because of their leadership in product stewardship and corporate commitment to sustainability. Since many classrooms on Burnaby campus are now old and undergoing renovations, it is expected that a significant amount of waste will be diverted through Calstone's Take Back program.
