Gerontology Lecture Series

Anne Berngruber & Arnie Bethmann

Generational Transitions Using European SHARE Data

Drs. Anne Berngruber & Arnie Bethmann delivered our first Gerontology Fall Lecture Series presentations since the COVID-19 break. Anne delivered a talk entitled "Coming of Age in Europe Across Generations," in which she used longitudinal data from the European SHARE Study to model the timing, ordering and linkage of social, spatial and economic transition markers from youth to adulthood across different European regions, birth cohorts and among women and men. Arnie complimented this presentation with an "Introduction to SHARE," a concise and user-friendly description of the largest pan-European social science panel study that is available worldwide for analyses. As Visiting Scholars to the GRC, Drs. Anne Berngruber & Arnie Bethmann will be collaborating with Drs. Barbara Mitchell, Andrew Wister, and Lun Li on a comparative analysis of  generational caregiving squeezes between Germany and Canada.
