Vaibhav Saria wins Association for Asian Studies Book Prize

On February 15, 2023, the Association for Asian Studies (AAS) announced Vaibhav Saria, an assistant professor at the Department of Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies, as one of the winners of the 2023 AAS Book Prizes. 

Saria won the Bernard S. Cohn Prize for their book Hijras, Lovers, Brothers: Surviving Sex and Poverty in Rural India (Fordham University Press, 2021). AAS’s award for a first single-authored book on South Asia, “The Bernard S. Cohn Book Prize honors outstanding and innovative scholarship across discipline and country of specialization.”
